How To Connect Wii Controller? Syncing Process in a Wii

Turn on the Wii console and ensure no programs are running in the background. Take the Wii remote and remove the covering on the back of the remote. Next, turn the remote over, and you will be able to spot a dedicated slot for an SD card. Now, remove the covering of the slot.

In case you are using a Wii Mini, you can find a button on the left side of the device close to the battery slot, which you need to press to sync the controller with the console. Thereafter, press and hold the sync button present on the backside of the Wii remote. In a normal Wii remote or controller, this sync button is located under the battery bay, which is the slot for the battery in the controller. Soon after getting activated, the Wii remote will start blinking rapidly. Wait till the flashing stops, and the stoppage in blinking indicates that the controller has been synced successfully.

Connect Wii Controller With a Windows PC

If you want to use a Wii controller on a Windows PC, then you need to have a Bluetooth adapter on your PC. In case you don’t have that, a USB Bluetooth dongle can be used for getting that connection established. One of the downsides is that you need to pair the Wii controller with the PC every single time you use it after restarting.

Click on the Bluetooth icon on your device and then select the option that says “Add a device”. Then, press and the 1 and 2 buttons on your Wii controller simultaneously. This will make the lights on the Wii controller blink. A list of devices will pop up on your screen.

Select “Nintendo RVL-CNT-01” from the list of devices. After that, pair your system with the Wii controller but keep in mind that you won’t be providing a code (make sure you select the option that does not require a code to be entered). After completing this step, click on the Next button. The pairing process can take anywhere between a few seconds to a minute. Next, open ‘Dolphin’ and select the “Wiimote” option. After doing that, click on “Real Wiimote”, which can be seen on the ‘Input Source’ menu. By doing this, you can use the Wii controller for playing games on your Windows PC.
