A step by step guide to making a bed in Minecraft.

If you were looking for a guide on how to make a bed in Minecraft, your search ends here!

One of the most important uses of bed is as a respawn location. You could use a bed to always teleport back to your house. If you don’t have a bed in your house, you won’t be able to respawn there.

Let’s go through the step by step procedure to make a bed in Minecraft.

Move into your crafting room and put up a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign at the door because your crafting session is on! To make planks, you will need to bring some wooden blocks from the jungle. You can chop the trees to collect the wooden blocks. If you have an axe, you will be able to salvage the wooden blocks faster. You could always punch the wooden blocks but that will seriously slow you down.

Once you are collecting the wooden blocks, you will need wool to give color to your bed. Set up your crafting table in a way that would place the wooden blocks in the middle of the 3*3 grid.

In this guide, we will stick to making a white-sheeted bed. For those who want to personalize their bed, they need to collect dyes for coloring their white sheets.

Once the wooden blocks are placed in the middle 3 vacancies, drag your wool from the inventory to the top 3 spots. You crafting table should look like this:

There you have it! A white-sheeted bed will appear on that blank space to the right.

You can use wooden blocks from any of the following trees to make a bed. I prefer spruce plank for most of my furniture though.

  • Dark Oak Wood
  • Oak
  • Birch
  • Spruce
  • Acacia
  • Jungle

To successfully save the bed to your catalog, just grab it down to one of the blank spaces in the inventory and you are good to go!

How to Make Colored Bed in Minecraft?

After the update 1.12, players can make colored beds as well. All you need to do to get a colored bed is to use dyed wool instead of the regular white. You can make the dye for your wool using some kind of flower (a separate coming soon on our website for crafting dyes in Minecraft).

It’s time to correctly place the bed you just crafted. Most of the players prefer respawning back at their house so, in the majority of the cases, the bed goes straight into the master bedroom. However, it’s not compulsory to keep that bed inside your house. Remember that you can use the bed as a respawn location. Therefore, you can even place the bed in the middle of nowhere in the dark forest but make sure you are away from dangerous creatures.

At night, you can use the bed to sleep and the time will fast forward to dawn. Just the right thing to do for those who don’t like loitering around at night. Personally, I don’t seem to be as productive during the dark minutes of the game so I just fast forward to the morning. When it’s dark, I just don’t feel like placing those blocks and building stuffs so I just fast forward to the morning.

How to Find Wool in Minecraft?

You will need sheers to harvest wool off a sheep. It’s fairly easy to craft a sheer. Set up your crafting table and insert iron ingots in two consecutive vacant spots. Move the sheer you just crafted into your inventory.

You could either kill a sheep or sheer it to collect wool. However, sheering is more efficient because you will be collecting more wool that way. If you are in need of both meat and wool, you can kill the sheep but as long as you are looking for wool only, shearing the sheep would be more productive.
