Odds for the new Premier League season

The Premier League may have just finished in many people’s eyes but with the announcement of the new fixtures for the 2022/23 season on Thursday, football fans are once again looking for all the local derbies, important dates in anticipation for the return of football in England. Like a new casino in India, excitement is rife among fans but there can only be one winner of the league, so who are the favourites heading into this historic season?

  1. Manchester City 8/13

The current Premier League champions once again head into the league as favourites to win the title. After securing the title on the final day of the season, City had a superb season in the 2021/22 Premier League and Guardiola has created a dynasty in England with the blue side of Manchester. With the likes of Kevin De Bryune, Bernardo Silva, Joao Cancelo and Reuben Dias already in the ranks, the Citizens have been able to add goal machine Erling Haaland to their side and it looks like he could make them the complete force across Europe.

  1. Liverpool 2/1

Just pipped to the post in the Premier League last year they will be itching to pick up their 2nd Premier League title and record equaling league honour. Jurgen Klopp was close to securing a historic quadruple but left with still a decent double. The Premier League may not be as elusive anymore for the red side of Liverpool but it is something they have to win again to put themselves into talk of one of the best English sides of all time. Losing Sadio Mane could be a disruptive blow but the acquisition of Darwin Nunez could make it hard for Manchester City to win a famous three league titles in a row.

  1. Chelsea 16/1

3rd last year and two finals. It was a troublesome year for Chelsea of the field but although it ended in disappointment, they were still very much in the question for several trophies. However, Thomas Tuchel could have his work cut out with restbalishing his team with many leaving and significant wage issues, he could be about to change the side completely especially with the likely departure of record signing Romelu Lukaku. 16/1 is very generous odds but it does feel like a two horse race once again.

  1. Tottenham 16/1

The dark horses in many people’s eyes. Antonio Conte, who looked on the brink last season, has fully established himself and now has a full pre season to work with his Spurs players. With Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min really combining they could be a real force with Conte drilling in his philosophy.

  1. Manchester United 25/1

Chelsea’s odds may have felt generous but these ones for Manchester United certainly are. Manchester United are no way near title contenders and even if new manager Erik ten Hag can have a successful pre season, the club are no way near set up to challenge the likes of Manchester City or Liverpool. A clearout is happening but it will be interesting to see which route United take either promoting youth and signing players the manager once or not learning from their mistakes and signing big name players who are looking for a pay day.
