Tekken is one of the most instrumental fighting game franchises. It popularized the fighting game genre amongst other behemoths and held its ground against the likes of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. With Tekken 7 being 2 years old now, it is time to take a look at what Tekken 8 holds for us in the future.
Tekken 8 Release Date
Tekken 8 is expected to shatter all expectations, and we are more than hyped for it. But, when is it coming out? Unfortunately, there are no leaks or any official indication to let us know when the iconic franchise will be making a return.
Bandai Namco has been quite slow at releasing its Tekken titles lately. We have seen plenty of frequent releases in the past, but things have slowed down with Bandai Namco trying to develop the esports scene with each game.
Tekken 8 Trailer
There is no official trailer as of now, but we did get a sneak peek of what we can expect in Tekken 7’s teaser, which sets the tone for the upcoming title. There is a specific way to trigger this hidden video, but for those who have not seen it, check out the video below.
If you want to earn the cutscene yourself and watch it in-game, here is what you need to do.
- Play Special Chapter – Instant Carnage
- Defeat Akuma while playing as Devil Kazuya
- Wait for the end credits to roll
Doing the above steps correctly will lead to a cinematic being played where you are taken to a completely destroyed city. Lars, Alisa, and Lee are seen talking about the state of the world before Jin appears out of nowhere and promises to defeat Kazuya once and for all.
Even though there is a lot of ambiguity surrounding the cutscene, we get a clear idea of where the upcoming title’s campaign is heading. With Heihachi Mishima no longer with us, we will no longer focus on his clan’s story arc. Bandai Namco will be focusing on the devil gene debacle and keep pushing that storyline forward.
Rumors
Other than unconfirmed speculations that mean nothing, there is nothing of significance that has been uncovered by anyone. There are some theories that Heihachi might be coming back somehow and play a significant role in the battle between Kazuya and Jin.
It is very difficult to imagine a Tekken game without Heihachi, and removing him completely is just something we Tekken fans have not come to terms with yet. He may be reincarnated as a devil or as an angel. With the devil gene being the primary focus of the upcoming campaign arc, there may be something to compete with it like an “angel gene.” But that is just a wild theory from public forums and not something we can back unless confirmed by the developers.
It is going to be a long wait until we find out more about Tekken 8, so please keep an eye out on our homepage for more Tekken 8 news. Let us know your thoughts on the upcoming game in the comments below.
