PlanetSide 3 is Announced by Daybreak Games

PlanetSide 3 is confirmed. The game will be an addition to PlanetSide series.

PlanetSide 2 was always a benchmark for free-to-play games. The game was never extremely popular but it always had a hardcore fanbase. PlanetSide 2 was released around 2013. The game always had an intriguing concept. The whole map is one big battlefield, just a reminder the map is huge. Players need to coordinate and try to capture territories as much as they can.  The map was divided into zones and there can be a battle in any of the zones at any given time. There are 3 factions to choose from. The vehicles are very satisfying to play as well. Of course, this mixed with the futuristic-looking setting of PlanetSide 2 the game was a success for a free-to-play game. Recently Daybreak games released PlanetSide Arena. The game had mixed reviews with players generally criticizing the amount of monetization.

PlanetSide 2 Success

However, the success of PlanetSide 2 is undeniable and this success gave the developers the confidence for developing PlanetSide 3. According to developers PlanetSide 3 is going to be much bigger and will have galaxy based gameplay. We cannot wait to see how well they will mix the general feel of PlanetSide 2 into the new game. PlanetSide 2 was an interesting game for sure. However, the game while still active is leaning towards heavy monetization. These monetization choices effected most of the player base. We do hope that they will change several things in that department because nobody wants a free-to-play to become a pay-to-win game.

PlanetSide Arena also might get a new game mode besides the traditional Battle Royale. For now, the game is based on Battle Royale only. This mode will offer shorter matches, capture points, and more vehicles according to the developers. Currently, the game is in early access. But developers stated that they plan to take it out of early access as fast as possible.  This is interesting because Daybreak Games recently laid off several of their developers and scaled-down their teams. We hope they can take the game out of early-access as fast as possible.

PlanetSide games have one thing in common. Even though the game has a futuristic setting it was never a system-hungry game. Players are able to play it on several different platforms without any problems. PlanetSide 2 on console was also a success. Even though it was only released for PlayStation 4 the game was enjoyed by most. Also, the number of cheaters on the console was much lesser, therefore, making the gameplay much more enjoyable.
