These are all simple tricks that you can try to fix your controller.

Go through the solutions mentioned below one by one, and you should be able to reboot your controller. If you still get the PS4 controller not charging error, there is nothing else to be done except getting a new PS4 controller.

Replace Batteries

If your controller is old, you can use a screwdriver to open up the controller and replace the batteries. Replacement batteries are easily available, and it will not void your warranty.

Reset Your Controller

At the back of the controller, you will find a small indent that is hidden away behind the right screw. You can use a blunt pin or a toothpick to press through the hole and hard reset your controller. If you notice the light blinking, connect it to your charger.

Check Charging Port

The charging port may be damaged, and you should check for any signs of damage. While there is a way to replace the charging port yourself, you should get it fixed at an authorized service center instead of as you may damage the internals.

Check Charging Cable

The charging cable that you are using might be broken, which led to your battery dying out. Try using a different charging cable and see if it helps.

Check Signs of Overheating

If you notice that your PS4 controller is overheating, it may be caused due to the controller being kept on a hot surface. The sensor component of the PS4 controller prevents it from booting once the controller overheats.

Freeze Your Controller

Use an airtight bag and keep your controller in the refrigerator for half an hour. The freezing method is very useful if you have a faulty heat sensor on your controller.
